The Lighthouse Supported Living Inc.
Annually, The Lighthouse emergency shelters support about 1400 individuals who stay from 1-7 nights, many of whom find a home through the support of our Housing team. Every day, approx. 180 people at The Lighthouse receive breakfast, lunch and supper and a warm, safe place to sleep at night. Additionally, on Mondays and Fridays, The Lighthouse serves meals in our Cameco Community Kitchen ("soup kitchen") to approximately 150 other people.
Because emergency shelters are expensive to operate, and The Lighthouse is a private (non-governmental) organization, we rely on private donations.
Your financial support funds:
1. Key staff positions that are vital to our support services but are not funded by any other organization.
2. Food for shelter guests and long-term residents.
3. Program supports for residents.
4. Emergency building repairs.
The Lighthouse Philosophy of Care: We believe in a harm reduction and trauma informed approach to caring for people who access our services. We aspire to be a dynamic and innovative housing and service provider in the communities we serve that assists individuals to reach higher levels of personal growth, independence and resilience.
